Saturday Six.......Inspiration Needed

Sometimes you just need some inspiration.  Here are Six for Saturday.  Enjoy.

Nate Berkus.  Always inspirational.  Love the Art.  Looks like it is sandwiched between two pieces of glass. I think that is how I will do my horse print.

House Beautiful.  Great website too.

A true gallery wall.  Love.

I love that couch.  No matter how rustic my leather gets, it doesn't look that good.
Bobby Flay's Kitchen.  Love the color, and the tables like in a cafe or restaurant.
Animal print.  yes please, and always.  Aerin Lauder's I believe.

Inspire yourself............

Art......Unexpected

I love art.  I grew up in an art family.  My dad is an artist. Art.....well it just jazzes up a house.  Art doesn't have to be expensive, or famous, it just has to speak to you.  Anything can be an art piece.

What I love about this is the hidden skeleton art on the wall.  It makes me smile.  Art.........good for the soul.
Art......do what speaks to you.  Photographs, pictures from magazines or books, make your own, or buy it. Whatever you decide.  Art.....put some on your walls.

Inspired by Elena's Horse Picture -- Inspired by The Vampire Diaries

Quick update on what I am working on.  I am a big "inspired by" person.   Not a copy, but an inspiration, a feeling, a mood.
My latest "inspired by" is an art piece.   I love the art over Elena's bed in The Vampire Diaries.  It is called "Lock and Load" by Mary Leslie.

See below.

Now, I do want to preface this by saying "Inspired By" does not mean copying or infringing on an Artists Copyright.  I am a firm believer in an Artists Copyright.

So my "Inspired By", is old.  In college I took a black and white photography class. Around the block from my house, there was this house that had all these old broken and battered mechanical horses.

The picture I took at the time was a long line of them like 6, not heavily cropped, but very heavy on the contrast.  What I am looking for is a muted feeling of a horse.

I did do a copy shot of my original picture. (I am sure the negative is in a box in my garage).  Currently cringing as my garage is such a mess.

I am in the process of editing it.

Now to choose.

A.
Or B.

I haven't chosen yet.  It is......TBD....to be determined.

When I do choose, I will take it to Costco and get the biggest print I can, and as it is old and a copy shot of my work, it may be a little grainy.  I will take that.  I am thinking kind of a huge ornate frame.  Hmmmm.

I will post the finished project.

Inspire yourself.

Frito Pie -- New Mexico Style

I didn't start out to make Frito Pie today.  I made Pinto Beans in the Crock Pot, and had some leftover beef brisket, and was just going to do a New Mexico, chili with beans and meat.  However, I was on the roof, spraying roof seal (sealing cracks -- love a New Mexico flat roof--- it is supposed to rain).
As luck would have it, I ran out and had to run to Lowes Home Improvement.

While at Lowes, I picked up:  dishwashing soap, dishwasher rinse aid, garbage bags, pumpkin Glade, the roof spray, and.......2 small bags of Fritos -- yep, I started to think Frito Pie.  Call this #thingsyoubuyatloweshomeimprovement.

I love any and all twists on Frito Pie.  Being in New Mexico, I love a New Mexican Frito Pie.

It can be made with a red chili, or green.

Simple, freezer ( the beef was in the freezer -- extra pinto beans will end up there).
What I used:    Homemade Pinto Beans, Shredded Beef Brisket, Green Chili Sauce.  Now most people put cheese on theirs.  I am not a melted cheese kind of person, so I skipped the cheese.  But, cheese, sour cream, pico, you name it.  You add it.

I also do it in a red version, and I do it in a Texas version (with good old fashioned McCormick Chili Seasoning, hamburger meat, tomato sauce, and pinto beans).  What can I say?  I love Frito Pie.

How do you like your Frito Pie?

Klaus the Morkie

Klaus is a little over a year old. Love this dog.

Seriously, he is the greatest.

Keeping the couch safe.

Wishing he could go outside. And....keeping the chair safe.
Look tucked under this chin by his ear, his Teddy Bear.

Yes, he sleeps with his teddy bear.

He loves to ride in the truck.

Seriously it is like Hitchock "The Birds", those hudge Crows are everywhere, and in every tree this time of year.  Sorry Crows.......He is NOT a meal!!

Are you a dog or a cat person?

Leather Sofas - Relax and Settle In

Leather sofas......relax and settle in.  Watch TV, read, nap, your choice.  Two great Tuesday leather sofas.
Do you say sofa our couch?

I love the idea of a pit group, however, it just won't fit my family room.

I love everything about this, from the worn sofa, to the large old photo on wood, peeling on the corners.

What speaks to you?  Does your style change with the weather?  I know mine does.
Photos - sofas, Restoration Hardware.

Multi Charm Necklace - DIY - What's your Story?

I love a multi charm necklace.  I love just throwing one together.
Long, old gold tone necklace, a wire wrapped skull (love skulls), a birthstone charm from my great-grandmother that is worn and scratched, and a found small key charm.

What I also love, mixing metals.

Your life, your story, live it.

Check my Etsy Store Shelby Lynn on the left, click through, great skull sale, see "Sale", and great multi charm necklaces.

Feeling inventive, make your own with found charms at the bottom of your jewelry box.

Make Monday Magical.

Iced Pour Over Coffee

I love iced coffee in the morning, I use a Toddy to make a cold brew.  However, I was out this morning, so I borrowed my husbands pour over and improvised.

I really liked it.  I will be trying again tomorrow.

First, I put the finely ground coffee in the pour over, I admit to making it stronger than you would use in a regular cup of coffee.  Boiled my water, and used the hubs special pour over pot (not shown).

Started pouring over, and let it drip on the ice.  That looks like about enough.
Yes, really scientific.  Done dripping.  Then added my Unsweetened Almond Milk, some sugar free vanilla syrup, and I was ready to go.

Yum.  Yes, I will be doing it this way again tomorrow.  I may have found my new favorite Iced Coffee.  Oh, the blend was a Bolivian blend.

Naan Bread Pizza

I love a quick, fast meal.  This fits the bill, and you can choose your ingredients and the amount of cheese.  I like more sauce than cheese, as you can tell.

Naan bread from Costco, Olives from Trader Joe's, simple Marinara Sauce from Trader Joe's (I didn't have any pizza sauce).  Quick turn in the oven and it was ready to go.

DIY Pizza night just got faster and easier.

You could also do it as an open face "Indian Taco".  Here in New Mexico, they use a Indian "Fry Bread" (no nota a typo) and put all the taco makings on it.

I think I will try it with a Naan.

Easy Croque Madame -- Croque (Ma-deb)

My version of a Croque Madame is called the Ma-deb --- because I improvise.

Turkey instead of Ham.
Colby Jack Cheese instead of Swiss.
Whatever bread or roll I have on hand.
The bechamel sauce is from here:  Rachel Ray Croque Madame.  Easy, fast and great.
And.....I like my egg well done, the hubs likes his over easy.
This is a great meal for any time of day, breakfast, lunch, dinner.
Give it a try.
