Big Sunglasses - Kennedy Style - Zoe Style

I love the look of the big retro sunglasses. Lucky for me the designer's are still showing them. Take this look from the new BCBG collection. Not only great sunglasses, but a great jacket under $200.00. Now if you love a great retro sunglass and don't have one, get on over to your local Wally World, or Tah-Jay, and get a classic black pair for cents on the dollar. You will be right in style. Oh, and can I say enough about the classic black turtleneck shown below. You know I love classic style. Now is the time to get your turtlenecks before they are gone, if a turtle neck is not for you go with a classic V-neck, or ballet neck. Either way, you can get yourself a little back to school treat, you know you want one.

Rachel Zoe and her trademark Big Sunglasses.

Can I say enough about Jacqueline Kennedy and her big sunglasses.

Garden Chair - Planting a Chair as a Garden

I ran across this over at Apartment Therapy. How darling is this chair? It would be cute in a front yard, back yard, just anywhere. This is fun. Now, I need a chair.

The Rachel Zoe Project - Bravo TV Season 2

Guilty pleasures? Mine is I love the Rachel Zoe Project. Okay it is junk food tv, but great junk food tv. If you have never caught it, the show is on Monday Nights on Bravo. Give it a peak. Let's just say, "I die, and Banannas!". Fun peak at a fashion stylist. I am waiting to see how the recession hurts her business. Roger lightly touched on it and Zoe did a bit, but let's face it Haute Couture is not what people are buying now. If you are in the mood for some fun mindless TV, this is it. Or not, up to you.....

Reading -- James Patterson's The Quickie

I know summer is for beach reading. So, what are you reading this end of summer? I just finished Julie & Julia. When I ran by the grocery store they had this on the rack for $4.79 in the large size that they have been making paperbacks in recently, not trade size, just taller and skinnier. It is supposed to be easier to read this way. Either way, I am so excited to start reading it, wanted to when it first came out in Hardback and never got one. So yeah for me and my new book. What are you enjoying reading?

DIY Boyfriend Jeans - Make Your Own

http://www.oldnavy.com. The jeans below are from Old Navy $19.00, no that is not a typo. Plus sizes online, regular sizes online and in stores.

Watching trashy (reality junk) TV the other day I saw an ad for the Old Navy Weekend Jeans. You know these jeans, they are the ones all the celebs wear called Boyfriend Jeans. Well $19.00 how can you beat that? I did! I went to my closet and got out a pair of old jeans that were a little loose, and stretch out fast, you know you have a pair, and was going to cut them off, but in the end just rolled them up 4 times, and poof, Weekend/Boyfriend Jeans!! Oh, and I saved $19.00. I absolutely love them, so comfy, so cheap, and way better than capris. I can't say enough about them. Only decision I have now is flats or heels? I'm off to dash to the store, so flats. I know you are thinking can you do this? Yes, absolutely. Just go digging in your closet.

Halloween Crafts - Dancing Ghost Ring

With the weekend coming up I was thinking about crafts to make and Halloween came to mind. I love Halloween, this year it is on a Saturday. Our neighborhood goes Halloween crazy. I have wanted to make these Dancing Ring Ghosts for along time. Maybe the time is now. Normally I do giant spiders and webs, but they are getting a little worn out, and I love the ghost ring. So, hmm, I will have to take a trip to my local Hobby Lobby, which already has Halloween out and look around. What fun. So are you thinking Halloween yet, it is back to school.

Halloween Ghost Ring 3 for $69.00 at Grandin Road. http://www.grandinroad.com

Also from Grandin Road in conjunction with Martha Stewart, these wonderful cardboard chandeliers.

More Ghosts!! Also from Grandin Road from their outlet. Yes, on sale for $12.00. Now that's a bargain.

Also from Grandin Road these fun metal luminarias. Might be fun as a craft out of paper bags.

Halloween crafts, better to get started now than later.

Great Movie Style - Set Design - White Paint

As I have said before in my blog, I am in the process of painting all the rooms a bright white. Set design, or movie style is always so fun to look at. The two pictures below show great movie sets. I'm afraid my rooms aren't quite that large as the house was built in 1947 and has cove ceilings, but the bright white is looking great so fat.
Set below from "Something's Gotta Give".

Set below from "Father of the Bride" and "Father of the Bride 2".

Just go to Walmart, yes, Wallyworld, and get the Parson's Desk. Perfect height, inexpensive, and many great colors to choose from. Enjoy.

TV Shows -- Weeds Season 5

What are you watching this summer? Well the hubs and I decided to watch Weeds. We started with season 1 and over the last few weeks have watched up to season 4. Just getting ready to start season 5. Crazy funny show. I do have to admit that after watching it I always crave an iced java, as she drinks tons of iced coffe of some sort. Now if I just could make my own iced java. There is this great coffee house here in New Mexico called Satellite that makes a killer iced java. Some sort of java syrup and half and half. So, what are you watching this summer?

Heritage Tomatoes - Homemade Spaghetti Sauce - Eating from the Garden

The movie Julie & Julia must have inspired the hubs, because he took our heritage tomatoes, of which we have an over abundance and made some rockin' sauce.
12 tomatoes - peeled and seeded - chopped or whatever you have just adjust the recipe - it is that kind of recipe
2 cans tomato paste
Basil
Oregano
1 T sugar
1/4 Cup of left over Petit Shiraz
Dash of Salt and Pepper
Boil then reduce to simmer for 2+ hours

YUM!
The above is a to taste recipe.

Now for the leftovers, we are going to use a flatbread we found at Whole Foods and thicken the sauce a tad and use it for a grilled pizza with fresh zucchini and squash on top from the garden.

1 cup semisweet chocolate chips
1/2 cup peanut butter
1/4 cup butter or margarine

Peanut butter and chocolate are a favorite flavor combo, but peanut butter lovers can substitute peanut butter chips for the chocolate chips to intensify that flavor.
