Sarah Richardson Holiday Country House

Yes, I know it has been terribly overexposed. However, I like the simplicity of the decorations. This is actually last year's Christmas Decorations, but again, the simplicity is nice. Just a little inspiration. I also loved BH&G's table top trees, which I showed in a previous post. Not feeling Christmasy yet? No worries, put a bowl of ornaments out, or a bowl of scented pine cones. You don't have to decorate to enjoy. I myself and going super simple and easy this year.
Yes, and if you know me you know I love pillows, she has tons.

Make Your Own Shooting Star Holiday Decoration

Must be almost December. I am putting up my shooting star. I saw this in an old Martha Stewart Magazine, and made it last year. The star is from Party City and is about 20". It was about $10, and is covered in silver garland. I added extra silver garland, and some white round LED lights. The tails are about 72" long and are just white string lights. From far away, (couldn't shoot far away with my camera) it really looks like a shooting star and the lights look more clustered. I do like it close up as well.
Don't want to make one? Now they are sold by Grandin Road. They are the Martha Stewart version.
Either way, I love it.
How are you decorating?

Gobble Gobble, it is Thanksgiving week. Love this pic below. Wouldn't you love an outside table like that? Looks like it might be in front of the front door. Enjoy.

To-do Image Inspiration

With the weekend fast approaching, I feel like I have not got a thing done this week. Truth is, I did get some Ebay done. So yay. More to do. However, I feel like my DIY to-do list is swallowing me. Maybe this weekend I can cross a thing or two off.

Images to enjoy and think about.

I love tabletop trees. Maybe I should just do a table top tree and skip the big tree. Does this make me a Scrooge?

Pic above, Better Homes and Gardens.

High on my to-do list is to paint-fix-something the Johnny Pole in my family room. Pic below, not mine, just great inspiration.

Animal print. Need I say more.

Having a get together? Clear off a table. Anything can be a bar. Love it.

Love the tray as a bar.

Ok, start planning your weekend to-do list, and it should not totally involve Thanksgiving preparations. Enjoy.

Lime - Brown - Ocean Guest Room Re-do

Ok, so this poor guest room, has been rearranged, moved, zhushed, and it still wasn't singing to me. In fact it was making me hate the curtains, hate the bed, well not like anything. But, I didn't want to spend any money on it. I will be refinishing the bed eventually. But in the meantime, yuk.

I was cleaning out my day planner and ran across this comforter card. I have this comforter, it used to be on my daughter's bed and she had a brown wall, and I loved it. In fact, I was going to cut it and make the comforter into chaise lounge cushions. Seeing this pic reminded me of how much I loved it in that room. Sooooo...... I put it on the bed. Love it. It is a full-queen, so when not tucked it just graces the floor on both sides, but, really, we don't have that many visitors. And--cost----nothing!!! It totally makes me smile, and I don't mind the curtains as much now. It also reminds me of my daughter, which always makes me smile.

Then later in the day, I was still rearranging and decided to put this shelf as the nightstand.

Now, which do I like better. The shelf or the ottoman? Decisions --decisions.

No to do some pillow recovering. (The blue ones on the side need to be animal print.) All in good time. Also, rearranging the office and the tutu desk (pics another day). Still loving my tutu desk.

Happy Monday.

Poached Egg Breakfast Sandwich

I can't remember the last time I had a poached egg. I make them for the Hubs all the time, and I believe they were my brother's favorite as a kid. I decided to make myself one. I use the ones on the stove, I have tried the microwave version, but eggs are always rubbery. Start to finish was about 10 minutes. Boile water, put egg in poacher - I poached a solid 6 minutes, I like well done eggs, then toast (cut it into a round with a glass, didn't have english muffins), then the already cooked bacon (I hate cooking bacon), a slice of ham, or nothing is fine, even a slice of cheese if you like cheese. Easy, fast and good. As a disclaimer, I am the world's worst cook, and this was good.

Tomorrow, one last guest room re-do.

Inspiration Friday - Happy Veteran's Day

Happy Veteran's Day!!

Thursday was the best day ever!! I went shopping with my daughter. So much fun. Loved it.
And, since I am procrastinating on getting things into my shop (i.e. Ebay, Etsy), I will procrastinate a little more with things I love and am using for inspiration. Oh, and my projects, not a one started or done. Good thing it's the weekend, I can imagine, and maybe do some projects. Oh well on to the inspiration.

I love this couch. Thomasville believe it or not. What I love is the 2 tone with leather, and the pillows, not necessarily the pattern, just the blue leather. It might be time to put a blanket on the cushions of my leather couch, they freeze me out at night.

Inspiration walls and shared desks. The Image Below House Beautiful. Love it all.

Again, inspiration walls and desks. Love the simplicity of file cabinets and just wood across them, not crazy about the chairs. Not sure where this image is from.

Barn doors. The hubs and I have had the hardware, etc for a year, and I have a door from another room in my house, and sadly we are still working on our wine room. Hey, gives us something to do. What is it they say, a home is a work in progress, and never finished.

Ok, pic below from House Beautiful. What I am focusing in on is the bed frame, everything else is well, blah. But that bed frame/platform, I could make that. I know I can make that bed frame. Now just which bed?

I love this abstract painted, patched, whatever wall. Would look amazing behind a bed. Any takers? I have heavily textured walls or I would do it. Now I just need to find someone with smooth walls.....I would definitely add a few pieces of silver leaf or gold or copper for some bling.

That is it, I hope you found some inspiration. I did. Now back to stocking my shops.

Getting Ready for the Holidays - Wish Projects

Getting ready for the Holidays, and really wishing I had time to do more projects. I am so behind on so many. But, I am getting caught up on Etsy and Ebay, so that is good. Anyway, a few great images to wet your appetite.

I love the look of built-ins. I need to find somewhere to do this. I know I can build this. Anyone? I see this in gray. You?

I love the 2 tables lined up, dining, gaming, homework. I think I should find somewhere to do this too.

Wine room. Project in process, for a very long time. Love these shelves. I saw this post where they built these in their basement. I know I can build these.

Leave it to Potterybarn, love it. Again, I am building some shelves.

Learning to sew, and relearning Spanish. I love this ottoman. Potterybarn of course.

My large ottoman below. I may have to make a cover for it. Leather furniture is cold during the winter months. I always sit on my red throw. Anyway, that room is looking a little sad, so maybe sewing a cover for the ottoman would pep it up. Now about the Johnny Pole, HELP.

Another view. We are always laying on the red throw, because the furniture is cold. And, side note, the chairs look way tooooooo red with the flash on. But, oh well, you get the idea.

Tweaking the guest room. I should have put in a bigger bed. But, I have always wanted to use this sleigh bed, so now contemplating.

My front room. Love this room. I love the brown on brown pillows, and it is just so cozy.

Holidays are coming fast. Sit back, relax and enjoy the ride. Haha.

Worn Leather Couches

I am loving this image. So much to look at. Love the worn couches loaded with pillows. Side note: I was listening to Martha Stewart this morning on the TV and she did say that you should have plenty of pillows for people to put behind them when they sit down, if they want. Now we all know women love this, but men not so much. Men just aren't into throw pillows.

I digress, love the worn couches, love the chair and ottoman with a sheepskin thrown on them, (at first I thought it was a lounge). Only thing I am not crazy about is the wood stacked in the house. That would be kind of buggy to me.

Still uploading jewelry and working on projects. You?

American Horror Story -- House

Love the show American Horror Story? Here's a peek at the house when it was on the MLS in LA for $4.5 million. Post below.

I am working on my photo collage (copy shotting the images so I can print them in black and white). I did decide at this time to go all black and white with the pics. Work in progress.

In the interim, I am also going to run to my daughter's house and pick up a table she isn't using and put in my guest room, which we don't use, and redo the bed with some legs I saw in a Martha Stewart Mag (about $5) -will post pics when done.

Now on to the real post. American Horror Story. Totally love that show.

The house is really the star of the show. So here is some house info for you. It was actually built by Architect Alfred Rosenheim (it's an LA house - duh). Known as the Rosenheim Mansion, it sits in Country Club Park in LA, built in the early 1900's as his personal residence. It was recently on the market for $4.5 million, but has been taken off. It is listed on many sites as available for filming. Maybe that is how they found it for American Horror Story.

The house is 3 story over 10,000 square feet, 6 bedrooms, 5 bathrooms, and sits on almost an acre. Ok, I could never clean that much house and that much wood paneling. But it is beautiful.

Boo, enjoy. Now on to the next Holiday, Thanksgiving. Yum.
