Fur Chair -- No Sew, Throw and Go!

I love a fur chair, I did one in a DIY post that my daughter uses in her room.

I call this one, No Sew -- Throw and Go (and it is a throw-- below)  rhyming accidental.

I ran across this picture in my inspiration file, and it said:  Bertelson Bookcase.  I am sorry I don't know where the pic is from.  But, I love the chair.  It looks like a giant fur just thrown over an old chair.  So I went looking for inspiration below.

Sorry for the not so good pic.  Don't know why everything is fuzzy lately.  Anyway, inspiration.  I had this old furry looking blanket, and threw it on the chair with a fur pillow.  Ready to go.  Comfy too.

I am thinking about doing this to an old rolling office chair.  This is just a Walgreens $15 blanket that was left around the house.
Chair below is covered in a toile fabric.  Kind of tired of it, but will revisit it again in the summer.

Are you decorating for Christmas yet?

Anxiously Waiting for House of Cards -- Season 2 -- What are you watching?

Have you seen the first season of House of Cards?  It is a Netflix Original Series.  I loved how they released the whole season at once.  I love the show too.

Since you can only shop sooooo much, and you may not want to watch football.  Check it out if you haven't already seen it.

I can't wait for season 2.

Robin Wright Penn looks amazing in the show.  The clothing and styling is wonderful.

Amazon has a new series with John Goodman I will be checking out this weekend when I get a chance.  Has anyone seen it?  Not feeling political?  As always all seasons of Downton Abbey.

Yes, I will be watching the Parade and the Dog Show.  That should be #getalife.  Smile.

Martha Stewart Silver Metallic Paint on a Dresser

Happy Thanksgiving.  I hope wherever you are, you get to take a minute for yourself and enjoy anything you find special.

If you have some left over time and want to contemplate a project.....below is one I did....dare I say almost a year ago.

I can't believe it has been over a year since I painted this dresser silver.  I posted about it in our office upgrade, so I thought I would bring it back front and center again.  Sorry I don't have the before but trust me when I say it was a sad old dresser with great lines.  Brown with water marks, scratches, fingernail polish droppings, etc.

I have always loved the silver painted furniture, so while browsing Home Depot, I ran across this paint.  It is Martha Stewart Living.  Two coats and one jar, there is some left for touch ups.  The coverage is great, allows a hint of brown to poke through as wood grain.  Deep coverage, and looks amazing.  The way it wears?  It has been almost a year since I painted it, and I have yet to do any touch ups.  It has been in the bedroom, and now in the office to hold my jewelry supplies.  Can I just say I love it.

As to painting this piece, I scuffed it lightly with fine grit sandpaper, and washed it well with vinegar and water, then let it dry.  I wanted the antique look like you see in Pier One, etc.

I have enough left to possibly paint the legs on the desk you have seen in photos.  Hmmmm.  More projects.

The paint color is Thundercloud.
Martha Stewart Living Metallic Paint.  Love it.
Not a paid post, I just love this paint.  I used the copper on a highboy, (again an older post) and can I say love as well.

Happy Thanksgiving.  Remember, it is not what you want, it is what you have.  Enjoy the small things.

Office Upgrade - Unexpected Office Furniture

We have been upgrading and working on our home office.

I decided to use an old dresser from a previous post, that was painted silver (see it on the
far left), to hold the office equipment, and the drawers for jewelry making supplies.

This truly is the strangest office, as you are looking at the shelves there is office on the right and a bathroom, on the left (which you can't see) is a wine room.  More no that later.

In progress.  Hope to be done soon.

Enjoy your weekend.

New Mexico Chile - Chile on Everything.

It is no secret that I love chile.  I put it on everything.  While watching Trisha Yearwood make an
egg bowl today, I thought, yes, I must make a Chile Bowl.

Potatoes, scrambled eggs, a few crumbles of bacon , and green chile.

Do not fret if you don't live in New Mexico.  Both Monroe's and El Pinto ship anywhere. (Not a paid post, just love their chile).

Also, check your food isles.  Hatch is available most places as well.  Kroger, makes this verde (green) enchilada sauce.

Happy preparing (can't cook) just prepare.
