Furniture Upgrade --French Provencial - Vampire Diaries Chic -- Romantic Minimalist

I am doing a furniture upgrade for my daughter.  She is going French Provencial, Romantic Minimalist, Vampire Diaries Chic.   Call it what you will, but it will be gorgeous.  Primer stage, hoping to spray over the weekend, weather permitting.  Please cooperate weather.  I am spraying, because we want a high gloss durable finish.  Some finishes I paing (my silver), but for this only spray will do.  If you don't have an outside area or garage area (I don't spray in my garage),  ask your paint department for a good paint that self settles and you can brush and get a good finish with minimal brush strokes - the tip on this is the newer the paint, and the better the brush, equal fewer brush strokes.  (I do admit, I don't mind brush strokes).

Drawers everywhere.  I take outside for a paint and sand, then bring in to dry and cure.  Yes, I am living with drawers everywhere.  Garage is too cold this time of year.  (Update -- borrowed a space heater and may get to use the garage-- yay).
Drawers everywhere.  Wink and smile.
I can't wait for the finished project.
Oh, and not because of what you think, I can't wait for the finished project so I can do another couple for her house, I have several in the back burner, and am dying to get to them.

Your weekend,  even if you are working, what are you working on?  I did the majority of this during the work week in the afternoon and evenings, totally relaxing.

Metallic Copper Furniture -- Trash to Treasure

We have had this furniture following us around for years.  We use it and love it (hey, have you priced furniture).  However, it was looking sad.  So for a quick update.  I painted it, yes, painted it copper.  Metallic Copper.  Love it.  Oh, and I already owned the paint.

Super easy, fast, and looks great.

Next, a silver one for the front bedroom.

Enjoy.

Before.

Huge scratches, and marks.  Just a sad piece of furniture.
In process.  See the copper on the side.
Another in process.  That is how faded the wood got over the years.  A little copper on the side.  Already loving it.
Finito.  Finished.  Love.
We have a super weird tight smallish room.  Mostly, you see it from the side, as you enter the room.
The paint I used.  Let me tell you this 1 jar did this furniture, with some to spare.  Love it.
It looks amazing.
Next on my list, the low boy in silver for the guest room.

Make it a great weekend.

Boudoir Chairs -- Recovered!!

Finally I have finished the boudoir chairs. Remind me never to attempt a project this big again. We have had these chairs since the 1980's they were my husband's grandmothers. Somehow we inherited them, and they have been simply stapled with fabrics or sheets and moved about to various rooms over the years. There are 2 of them. I have no idea how old they really are.

Here is one in all it's glory. Really needs a recover. Yes, layers of fabric stapled on them.
The brown and blue fabric I am using as an outdoor tablecloth. Hey, didn't want to waste it. The denim was trashed, and got thrown in the trash.

Beautiful round backs. You might recognize the checked fabric in black and tan, it is on my husband's office chair. I said the fabric was around the house when I posted.

Pleated sides of the chair.

Pleating the chair. There are 3 fabrics on each chair. All bought on sale, I believe total I have about $15.00 per chair in fabric.

The pleating took the longest.

Fully covered. Everything else was a tuck and staple, and then the nailhead trim. About $8 between the 2 chairs. But you know what, I like them, and will keep them in these shades for quite sometime.

You don't really see the back, although this is not a good pic, the fabric really looks wrinkly and isn't. Oh, and I simply painted the old ugly legs simple out of the garage black.

Finished chair in the corner of my room. I love it. Other one, is on the otherside. May have to put them together side by side, hmmmm.....

This project embarassingly was started before Thanksgiving, and one was finished in a semi timely manner, and the other, well, I just finished it. Oops.

Enjoy the long weekend.

Easy DIY Padded Headboard (Gossip Girl Style)

This is the bedroom that started it all. I love the headboard. However, I don't sew. So, I decided to make one, (thank goodness for staple guns). Oh, and all for less than $150.00.

The eye photo I love. (Another post entirely).

Close up of headboard.
Love Gossip Girl!! I also love her new room, at Blair's house.

So, I went to Michaels, and bought the cheap 16 x 20 artist canvas in the 5 pack, on sale. Then Target for the twin size cheap foam for a bed, then to the fabric store for batting by the yard and fabric.

First I laid everything out to see how it would fit, and where to lay everything.

Foam, batting, stapled around canvas, cut around corners to make less bulky. Really this was a fly by the seat of my pants project.

Trimming bulk around corners.

Laid out on wrong side of my fabric. I chose a small polka dot fabric in blue with brown velvet dots, small dots, so I wouldn't have to match them. That would be toooo hard.

Stapled around.

Laid on the floor in place, you can see I used 2 packs of 5. It is to give the illusion that it is all the way behind the bed, when in actuallity it isn't.

Love it. Oh, and I have a California King Size bed.

Now the hard part. The Hubs helped me screw in 2x4's to hold everything in place and make it rigid.

Placed behind my bed. Love it!!

I have since added a dust ruffle, and changed the chairs. Will get those postings up soon. I love this look. It is elegant, and easily changeable. Although, I can't imagine wanting to change it.
