Cedar Chest - Before and After

I have had this Cedar Chest for ever.  It has some damage on the bottom and is scuffed up.  While I am waiting to decide where to put it.  It tends to move around the house.  I have covered it with some left over fabric.  I like having it up here by the front of the house.  It is a great place to sit, take off your shoes, drop the mail, your purse, whatever.

Nothing fancy on the cover.  Just left over fabric tucked around and tacked.  If I like it, I will decide on a permanent fabric.  Best part, it was free.  My chest, and left over fabric.
Try something new in your decorating.  You can always change it back around.

Painted Steps - Brick Red

Finally checking off some tasks on my to-do list.  A few years ago before our Lhaso Apso passed away, we painted these steps in a brown and white, so it would be easier for the dog to see.  Yes, we are that kind of family, we loved our dog.

Anyway, they were getting dirty and grungy, so I decided to paint them back to the brick red color they originally were.

Before, I had started taping them off.  They join the old house to the newer additions.

In process, if you closely at the left side of the steps, you can see the brown showing thru.  That was my walking path while painting.

 Ta-Da.  Done.  Love them.
Projects?  Buehler?   Buehler?  Anyone?

Debate time.

Tin Ceiling Look Wallpaper

This Johnny Pole, and these Clearstory windows are truly the bane of my existence.

That being said, I went to work on them this weekend.  I wanted to cover them, as they are not very attractive, and I didn't want to spend alot of money.

Before.

More before.
Home Depot wallpaper, $12.50 per roll, (only one role needed), and yes, it is paintable, and looks like tin.
In the process of putting up.  Light still filters thru.
 Still working on it.
Taking a breather with a Skinny Girl Margarita.
What I would like the Johnny Pole area to look like.  Love this silver tone pole and beams.

DIY Gold Rattan Side Table

Gold side tables all all over the internet.  Google them.  I felt that I needed one, but didn't want to spend the money.  This one didn't cost a dime.  I had everything.
First, this old rattan side table that has been rattling around our house for years, is missing in a few places, but still sturdy.  So, before the wind set in the other day I took it outside and cleaned it in preparation for spray painting it.
Note-remember everyone, spray paint goes everywhere -- overspray.  I took this away from cars, homes, everything.  Just a note, in case you haven't worked with spray paint before.
The before.....
Tada--- is that how you spell it?  Anyway, less than 1 can of gold glitter spray paint later, and it is back at home in my house.  Oh, and the spray paint was out of the garage, some old Hobby Lobby glitter gold, see didn't cost a thing.
I love it.  It makes me smile.

Turquoise Shutters Slipcovers

Totally random, but lately I have been thinking about slipcovers, probably because sometimes I feel so brown with my brown leather couch.

Loving this room from House Beautiful. Love the turquoise shutters, and if you look real close, both couches have slipcovers over the top of them. Nothing fancy, just sewn and slipped on top. I am guessing attached cushions underneath? Hmmmm. They really look nice. Very simple and understated.

Summer Fireplace & Art

What to do with an unused fireplace, when a chair really has to sit in front of it?
We have had everything from candles, to packed with logs, to a branch with Christmas twinkle lights (that you plug ing) (my personal favorite), all inside the fireplace at various times. We really don't use it that much.

Therefore, when needing to clean out the garage to make room for more stuff.......no judging, I ran across this old large Amado Pena. Not really our style, but the colors were right, and the size was right on.

So propped up it went.

Now, if I like the look, I might just go for an abstract striped canvas, kind of a DIY. Just testing the look for right now.

More views. There are these strange metal ledges on the fireplace that can't be removed.

The pic below (don't know where it is from), shows a chair in front of their fireplace too!!

Contemplating really stacking up some art on the fireplace. Hmmm.....

Enjoy.
