Fur Chair -- No Sew, Throw and Go!

I love a fur chair, I did one in a DIY post that my daughter uses in her room.

I call this one, No Sew -- Throw and Go (and it is a throw-- below)  rhyming accidental.

I ran across this picture in my inspiration file, and it said:  Bertelson Bookcase.  I am sorry I don't know where the pic is from.  But, I love the chair.  It looks like a giant fur just thrown over an old chair.  So I went looking for inspiration below.

Sorry for the not so good pic.  Don't know why everything is fuzzy lately.  Anyway, inspiration.  I had this old furry looking blanket, and threw it on the chair with a fur pillow.  Ready to go.  Comfy too.

I am thinking about doing this to an old rolling office chair.  This is just a Walgreens $15 blanket that was left around the house.
Chair below is covered in a toile fabric.  Kind of tired of it, but will revisit it again in the summer.

Are you decorating for Christmas yet?

Fur Desk Chair

Ok, so no secret, I have not done a single project in the last 2 weeks that I have had on my list.  However, it is Monday, and a whole new week.  This week I want to put fur on a desk chair for my daughter.  Maybe even do 2 of them.  My inspiration, these below from Pottery Barn.

I did experiment awhile back with an old chair to see how to work with the fur, and have been pleasantly surprised at how durable, comfy, and non-shedding it is.
Old chair.

Will keep you posted on the desk chair progress.

Yes, You Can Recover a Rolling Desk Chair

Yes, you can recover an ugly rolling desk chair.  The below offender is in the Hubs office.  Old dusty, yuky.  I had some leftover fabric in the closet, and decided to give it a recover.

I got out a set of alan wrenches and took it apart, basically, the arms came off.  Then I added some foam and batting, and began using my staple gun.

For the arms, took off the rests, and stapled fabric then screwed back on.

Took about an hour.

The results.  So that there would be no back staple seaming, I actually put the fabric over the top of the chair and stapled under neath, and did a tuck on the sides, with a few hidden staples. I used about 3 yards of fabric.

I actually did this quite some time ago, and it has held up well.

Have an old desk chair?  Recover it.

Photo Collage - Photo Wall

While cleaning out closets, and consolidating pics, I ran across the most amazing pics of my daughter (who is the most amazing, awesome, greatest, person I know) and my wonderful Husband aka the Hubs. So, in his office which we are tailoring for him, I am going to do a photo collage wall. I am going to convert all the pics to black and white, so printer ink, get ready..........

Wall above has magnetic paint on it. Pic, HGTV.

I want it to be a little more collagy(is that a word)? like the pic above. So......pics next week.

I will be taking pics and converting them to black and white, via printing, and color copying. I can't wait.

Recover an Office Chair

This office chair had seen better days, but truthfully didn't want to spend any money on it.
So, I dug thru some old fabric scraps, and found just enough in a tan and black cotton.

I put took the chair apart, put some leftover batting on the seat and back, then began stapling. Love a staple gun. Not a professional job, but, perfect for this office. Best part, no cost at all.

It is also more comfortable in the heat. Love it, love projects that you can do with stuff from your house.

Controlling Cord Clutter

I hate looking at cord clutter. Don't you? Well on my desk I have 2 laptops, and a monitor. All of which create clutter. So, when digging thru my garage I found this old apple crate, and decided to use it to control my clutter. I love it. Best part, FREE. Yay.

Re-doing a Home Office -- Concrete Desk

We started with rearranging the furniture, but left the desk as this room is a strange small size. It is 6' wide by 8' long. So not alot of options. Also, I should open the window, but the desk looks out onto 3/4 of an acre and has a beautiful view.

This is the room without the flash. The curtains aren't as bright as they seem in the above picture, they really are a nice neutral gray.

There is a bathroom off the office that you can see on the left. We moved the antique armoire, and the shelves.

I have not shown the behind view, where the armoire came from, as we stacked all the accessories there. Now for that brown chair. Hmm, do I recover it? Buy a black one? I would prefer he have a more regular type chair, however, he likes the rolling kind, and he is the one that sits at the desk for hours at a time. So, any suggestions? Help.

Redoing the Home Office -- Concrete Desk

I can't believe this is the before. Wow, super ugly. The hubs office. He home offices. In this. Yuk. So now, we are redoing it. I say we, I mean me. He thinks it is fine. Got these gray curtains awhile back, to go with the gray concrete desk he uses. Looks like we need to find a new chair, and a little less clutter. Will post the afters next week. Hopefully.

Any suggestions, greatly appreciated.

It is a weird L shaped office.

His gray concrete desk. He made it himself, and loves it. Yes, we have concrete counters in our kitchen, in our home.

Ok, this chair, is looking really gross. Looks like I need to find a new one.

This bottom picture is what you walk into and see. Yuk, and more Yuk.
