Happy First Day of Spring -- Cinder Block Gardening

I enjoy gardening. Growing Beefsteak Tomatoes are my favorite. However, we have a ground squirrel problem here on our acre, yes we live trap them and have them relocated. However, this year I am going to go above ground for our garden. I was a little worried, as it is kind of costly to start out with. Then I had an aha moment, and remembered we had tons of cinder block behind the barn. Aha, it will work perfectly. Now, all I need is wire mesh to keep the squirrels out and some new dirt. Oh, and to build it, (minor detail).

I love this one below, it is clean and fresh looking with the wood border.


I really like the scale of these below and the fence surrounding them.

David Caruso Sunglasses -- CSI Miami

Anyone out there in blogland know what kind of sunglasses David Caruso wears on CSI Miami? Has he always worn the same ones or does he change? I don't watch the show, so I don't know if these are the current glasses. My dad loves the show and wants some of the glasses. Any info would be appreciated. Thanks.

Unusual Desk Interiors -- Happy Saint Patrick's Day

I ran across this desk, wish I could remember where. Anyway, I have an old armoire desk type thing. You know the ones you put together yourselves. I am thinking about painting it and doing a black like chalkboard interior. I love chalkboard paint. It is mat and moody. Even if you don't put chalk on it. What projects are you working on? Happy St. Patrick's Day.

Outdoor Dining -- The Show Dallas

I loved the old show Dallas. May have to get it on Netflix. What I loved was that they would eat outside. I love eating outside. Now having lived in Dallas many years ago, I can remember it could be a bit breezy. I do remember some breezy episodes. Running across this picture, I can't remember where, made me long for summer. It is almost here!! Lots of planning to do for eating outdoors. Do you love to eat outdoors as much as me?

The ditches are running -- Yeah almost summer

The ditches are running!! Here in the southwest, the clear ditches take irrigation water to the farmers. One of the reasons we purchased our house was we love this view behind it. We love to go out the gate and walk along the ditch. It is relaxing. We do also irrigate our almost acre with the water from it too.

That has got me thinking again about our summer garden. We are having non-stop ground squirrel problems. They eat and destroy everything. I have a permanent trap set. It is a kind one, and they are relocated, so don't send any squirrel emails.


So, that has got me thinking about our summer garden. I think I want raised beds, now how to afford them. I have some old cinder block in the back. I think I will stack, put some wire in the bottom, to keep the squirrels out and then dirt. Sounds expensive, (the dirt).
