I love repurposing old items and making them do a new task. Since I have a problem with ground squirrels and rabbits, I am having to garden above ground. However, raised beds can be expensive and time consuming. Therefore, I thought about doing an old fashioned potager. I used an old wheel barrel or wheel barrow, depending on how you pronounce it, and have planted Romaine Lettuce. I used a good potting medium and now my lettuce is growing like a weed. Can't wait to eat it. When the lettuce is done for the season I might do cabbage or swiss chard. I guess I will have to start thinking about that now. So, look around your garden, and house, do you have something that can be planted as a potager? I bet you do.
